Ed threw this news tidbit my way–how’d he know?! I love it!

The LEGO Group, the world’s leading construction toy brand, today announced LEGO® Friends, a new play theme that tailors the iconic LEGO construction experience especially to girls ages five and up. LEGO Friends delivers on a girl’s desire for realistic role-play, creativity, and a highly-detailed, character-based world with the core values of LEGO building.

“We felt it was time to test assumptions that girls aren’t interested in building and to breathe fresh air into a toy category filled mostly with per-fabricated play experiences for girls,” said Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, CEO, LEGO Group.

“We focused on creating a play experience centered on the joy of creation, while heeding the way girls naturally build and play. We are incredibly proud of the solution we deliver with LEGO Friends, and are resolved to build this platform for years to come.”

What a great addition to the Lego family! Not that there’s anything wrong with girls playing with Legos as they are, but this just makes them even more appealing. My only hope is that they avoid the ‘pink princess theme’ as it has been done again and again. Girls love things that aren’t always pink and princess-y too! How about a CEO in her office building?

“What LEGO Friends does differently is deliver the beauty, details, accessories, real world themes and need for strong interior play that the research revealed would make all the difference for girls ages 5 and up.”

Need to know more about what is coming?  The LEGO Friends collection 2012 consists of 23 products.  The first 14 will be available for sale in select toy, discount merchandise, specialty and online stores beginning December 26, 2011 in the United Kingdom and January 1, 2012 in the United States.  A total of 29 different mini-doll figures will be introduced in 2012.

UPDATE: Apparentely this is not a popular addition with many of the Lego Facebook fans.

This is interesting.  Something that was announced back in February is gaining a lot of traction now with the holiday season rapildy approaching.  Online and offline doll play collide to bring fashion forward preteens an equally savvy doll.  Mattel and Stardoll, one of the largest girl-oriented sites, have joined forces to create “Stardoll by Barbie”.  Barbie has always been in the forefront of fashion but what makes these dolls a little more glam than your average Veterinarian Barbie are the real eyelashes, sculpted model-esque faces, a dab more makeup and of course the ability to virtually link up!

Press Release :

Stardoll, the online fashion game and world’s largest website for teen and tween girls today announced at the International Toy Fair, a multi-year licensing agreement with Mattel. The partnership is aimed at taking the Stardoll brand from the virtual into the physical world with the first product line to come in the autumn of 2011.

Global toy company Mattel has teamed up with Stardoll after years of successful commercial collaborations allowing brands to engage online with their target audience. Mattel brands that have advertised on Stardoll include Barbie®, Fashionistas®, Monster High®, with the companies deploying a range of highly creative solutions that included launching a fan club, exclusive dolls and a virtual store.

“We are pleased to be working with the world’s largest toy company in a partnership that will see Stardoll moving from the virtual into the physical world,” said Mattias Miksche, CEO of Stardoll Network from Nuremberg where he is a featured speaker at the International Toy Fair. “This year we are very focused on entering the licensing space so that our members can experience Stardoll in new and exciting ways; Mattel is making this a reality for them.”

In January, it was announced that Random House Children’s Books launched a printed copy of ‘Mortal Kiss’ in bookstores after the interactive mystery story, originally only released on the web, was a huge hit among members. Commented Mattias Miksche: “We knew that our users love the immersive online experience on Stardoll.com, but we are thrilled to learn that we’ve built a brand that carries from the online to the offline retail world.”

Stardoll was launched in 2006, has more than 92 million registered users globally and reaches over 15 million unique users per month.

[wptabtitle]The Take[/wptabtitle]
[wptabcontent]

Doggie Doo Highlights

  • Each player rolls the die takes turns to squeeze pups leash!
  • Each time it gets squeezed Doggie Doo…ahem…cuts the cheese.
  • The more you squeeze the closer the dog gets to going. After the dog does his business you scoop it! First person to reach 3 scoops wins! To mix things up die has options for 1, 2 and 3 rolls, lose a turn and shovel switching.

Doggie Doo Verdict

  • This toy is gross, disgusting, inappropriate, tasteless and….a ridiculous amount of fun! I can honestly say that this is probably one of the most fun times we have had reviewing a toy yet.  This will definitely be on a lot of Christmas lists this year! Battery free and priced about $20 (when you can find it) – What’s not to love?

I remember when I bought my daughter Lucy her first Lalaloopsy… She adored it! The only problem was she had to say goodbye to her at bedtime. But now some of our favorite LaLa’s come in plush! Not only are they just as adorable as the original Lalaloopsy dolls but they’re 1/2 the price! Walmart has them for $14.97 right now!

The Lalaloopsy dolls were once rag dolls who magically came to life when their very last stitch was sewn, taking on the personalities of the fabrics that were used to make them. Lalaloopsy dolls live in a colorful, silly world with surprises around every corner!

Features:

  • The Original Characters — now in plush
  • Doll and pet are made of soft material
  • Totally collectable
  • Doll is 10.25″ tall
